This is something that sounds a bit fancy but I could not pass up the opportunity to share this with you all. Fresh summer green beans need little treatment to enjoy. In the spirit of brevity, this recipe is one that shows off the brilliance of our local summer bean crop. Steaming them in water is enough but adding wine takes them up to a new level. Makes a great side to grilled chicken or as appetizer with a glass of the wine!
- 10-12 Beans per person
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white wine (Chardonnay or Sauvingnon Blanc)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
HOW TO PREPARE
Cut off ends (1/8 inch max)
Bring water and wine to boil in pot.
Place beans in steam basket or metal strainer over boiling water.
Cover 3-4 minutes or until really warm.
Remove and plate. Salt and Pepper.
